1. I have AVAST! anti-virus installed and I cannot watch WebMeeting content. Why?
For some reason, it seems that some older versions of Avast! (version before 4.6.603) have problem to access streaming videos. This is not a WebMeeting problem, and applies to all sites that use Windows Media to stream video and audio on the web..

In theory, you should upgrade your AVAST! to fix this problem. To download the new version, visit: www.avast.com.
2. Presentation never starts! The video is in "Ready" state, but nothing happens, or I see only a white screen, that does not load anything. Why?
Those few reports about this are usually related to problem on the Windows Media Player installation. Most times, a simple re-install of the Windows Media Player fixes this. Also, it might be related to restrictions that firewalls or Internet Security softwares apply to certain types of protocols used on video streaming. Or, it might also be related to the proxy configuration on your computer.

Here are some of the possible solutions:

1. Option 1. Reinstall Windows Media Player

2. Option 2 - Turn off Windows Media Player Proxy
The proxy configuration on Windows Media Player can prevent you from properly accessing the videos - particularly live webcasts. Disabling the proxy does not seem to have any consequence on the security level of your computer. It will simply "force" Windows Media Player to do follow a certain "path" to reach the video. Please follow these steps:

1. Open Windows Media Player by clicking on START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACESSORIES/ENTERTAINMENT/WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

2. When Windows Media Player opens, go on the menu to TOOLS/OPTIONS (in case you do not see the menu on the top of the screen, hold the ALT key on your keyboard).

3. Select NETWORK tab.

4. Click on CONFIGURE button, to the right, around the center of the window.

5. Select the third option on the new windows. The option is: Do not use a proxy server

6. Click OK

7. Clique OK again

8. Close Windows Media Player and re-open the page of the WebMeeting you want to watch.

3. Option 3 – Desable UDP and TCP protocols in Windows Media Player
By doing this, you will “force” your Windows Media Player to use HTTP protocol – which should have no restrictions on your computer. Please follow these procedures:

1. Open Windows Media Player (go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACESSORIES/ENTERTAINMENT/WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER)
2. Open the TOOLS menu and click on OPTIONS
3. Select NETWORK tab
4. Uncheck Multicast, UDP e TCP items and leave HTTP checked (this option can vary, depending on your Windows Media Player version)
5. Leave the WebMeeting page and re-open it (do not simply Refresh).

4. Option 4 – Temporarily disable your firewall
Some firewall block access to videos on the web, because some videos might be "dangerous". So, if your firewall is being too restrictive, it might be necessary that you turn if off temporarily.

But be cool! You don not have to keep it off (because it is not good to leave your computer unprotected). Do this: turn of the firewall, access the WebMeeting, and after the video starts playing, turn your firewall back on. It will be only a few moments with it turned off.

5. Option 5 – Put your level of security on Internet Explorer on Default
You may also be using a very restrictive configuration on your Internet Explorer, which might be preventing you from accessing page with javascript or other resources. It might be necessary to put your security in medium level (this is the default). Do to this, simply follow these steps:

- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on the TOOLS menu and select INTERNET OPTIONS
- A new windows will open. Select the SECURITY tab, on the upper part
- Put the security level on Medium
- Click on ADVANCED tab
- On the lower part of the windows, click on RESTORE DEFAULTS
- Click on OK to close the window
- Close Internet Explorer, re-open it try to open the WebMeeting again.
3. Aparently the video is playing, but I can only listen to the sound, with no video - or vice-versa. What should I do?
Option 1: Install the newest CODECS for Windows Media Player

It is possible that some of the files that are necessary to play the contect are missing on your Windows Media player. These files are called CODECs. To solve it, you must download the installation package:

There, you will be able to download CODECs installation package. Select which version you want to download, according to your Windows Media Player. After the download, simply download the file and follow the instructions to finish the installation process.

Option 2: You see the video but does not listen to the audio

It is highly possible that the sound on your computer is not working properly

It may seem obvious, but it is very common that people put the audio on MUTE. On the lower right corner of the desktop screen, near to the Windows clock, there might be a speaker icon. Double-click on it and verify that no item is in MUTE mode or has the volume too low

Also, check that you speakers and cables are connected correctly.
4. I have broadband access. But, I still have too many interruptions and re-bufferings while watching the WebMeetings. Why?
This problem is usually caused by problems on your connection speed. Even on broadband connections, it is possible that, while you watch the WebMeeting, your telecom/broadband operator or your local network (in case you share your link with other computer on a network) are too busy, because of traffic or technical problems. Unfortunately, on those cases there is not much you can do. Contact your telecom/broadband/network administrator or wait until it is back at normal speed.

Here are a few other possible solutions:

1. Try to access during hours in which your network traffics tends to be smaller. But that is not a good idea if you intend to watch a live presentation.

2. It might be necessary to increase your broadband speed. Please keep in mind that the minimum speed is 256kbps, but the higher, the better. Despite that, several broadband operatores only guarantee 10% of the hired speed. Thus, there might be moments in which, even on a 256 kbps link, your actual speedy might be below that.

3. You might be sharing your connection with other computer on a network. This is will also reduce your speed. Avoid sharing your connection or - in case your speed is slow - please ask other users not to use the internet at the time you do.

4. Turn off peer-to-peer softwares, such as Kazaa, E-mule, Morpheus, Limewire, etc. These softwares often make several simultaneous connections, while sending and receiving files. This can seriously reduce your speed.

5. Avoid navigation on other sites or accessing e-mails while you watch the WebMeetings.

5. I can watch the Test presentation, but I cannot watch a live WebMeeting. Why?
It is possible that a security device or software in your computer or network (i.e. corporate networds and VPNs) is blocking your access.

You may try disabling the Proxy on your Internet Explorer. Please follow these steps:

To disable Proxy on Internet Explorer
1. Open you Internet Explorer and click in Tools / Internet Options
2. Go to the Connections tab
3. Click on LAN Settings
4. Make sure all options are un-checked
5. Click OK
6. Click again OK
7. Close all instances of your Internet Explorer and try to access the WebMeeting again.

In case you must use a Proxy server, or cannot make these modifications, it is possible that your computer - possibly corporate computer - is blocked for such modifications. Please contact your network administrator or IT Support team.

6. I can listed to the audio, but the video window is GREEN, PINK or has several different odd color. What is that?
This is a configuration problem in your video card.

Here is a temporary solution:

1. Left-Click with your mouse over the video area.

2. Now, do a right-click over the video area.

3. On the little menu that opens, click OPTIONS

4. A new window will pop-up. On the lower part, you will seeVideo Accelaration. Lower the acceleration level to Minimum or None.

5. Click OK

6. Answer YES to question that is shown.

The page will be reloaded and, in theory, the situation will be normal. However, keep in mind that this is only a temporary solution. Ideally, you should update the drivers for your video card, which are possibly not properly set up. Please contact your computer manufacturer or one trusted technician to perform this upgrade.
7. I screen it being "cut". I can see the whole slide. Why is that?
Your screen resolution is possibly at 640 x 480 pixels or 800 x 600, which are too low. Please configure your screen to user 1024 x 768 pixels or above. Please read item18.
8. What are the recommended system configurations for me to watch the WebMeetings?
The recommended configuration is:

- Pentium 4 or similar
- Video Card running screen resolution at 1024 x 768 pixels
- Sound card and speaker
- Internet Explorer 6 or above - Windows XP or above

- Windows Media Player 9 or above superior (this is default in Windows. See item 13

- Broadband internet access, with at least 128 kbps.

9. What is a WebMeeting?
WebMeeting is the lecture that is broadcasted on the internet, live or on-demand. You are able to see, listen and interact with the presenters, live. Even if you miss the live presentation, you are able to watch the presentation on-demand afterwards, exactly as in the live webcast.
10. Is it necessary to download any software to watch the WebMeetings?
Computers running Windows 2000 and above should not need to make any downloads. However, depending on your configuration, it is possible that some may require downloads. In theory, your internet browser will do the required downloads automatically, if need. You just have to authorize the automatic installation, when authorization windows are displayed.
11. How do I know what is my Windows version?
In general, you just have to click on START and have a look at the blue vertical bar, that is located to the left of the menu. In case this bar is not visible, follow these steps:

- Right-click over My Computer

- Select PROPERTIES item

- A new windows will open, with a small computer screen to the left. On the upper part of this window, you can see the Windows version that is installed on your computer.
12. How do know which version of Windows Media Player I have?
Follow these steps:

- Click on Windows' START button.
- Select folder Programs / Acessories / Entertainment
- Select the Windows Media Player icon
- After it is opened, click on the Help menu
- Select item About. In the About window, you will find the information about the version your running.

We recommend Windows Media Player 9 or above.
13. What is Windows Media Player?
Windows Media Player is a software that is part of Windows and is automatically launched to play most audio and video formats. You need Windows Media Player 9 or above to wathc the WebMeetings.

You do not need to manually open Windows Media Player to watch a WebMeeting. It will be launched automaticaly whenever you open a web page in which it is needed.
14. I do not have Windows Media Player or I would like to update it, so that I run the latest version. What should I do?

There you will be able to download the latest updates for Windows Media Player. This content is provided directly by Microsoft, and might require you Windows software validation. Please contact Microsoft for further information.
15. I missed the live webcast. Will I be able to watch the presentation later?
Yes, you will. A few hours after the live webcast, the whole presentation content will be available for you to watch, whenever you want.
16. My computer does not have a sound card. Do I need one?
Yes, you need a sound card. All presentations have video and audio, so it is mandatory that you have audio in your computer.
17. Do WebMeetings work on Windows Vista?
Yes, they do. Windows Vista comes default with Windows Media Player 11 and it can access any WebMeeting.
18. How can I change my screen resolution?
Please follow these instructions:

- Right-click over the Desktop area in Windows

- Select Properties

- A new window will open. Select Configuration tab.

- Now, you can see your resolution. To modify it, simply drag the horizontal bar and put it in 1024x768.

- Then, click on Apply. Your computer will test if that resolution is valid for your monitor, and may require that you reboot.
19. I use Apple Macintosh and I am having difficulties in accessing the WebMeetings. Are there any solutions?

20. What type of internet connection must I have to watch a WebMeeting?
It is highly recommend that you have a broadband connection, with at least 256 kbps.

Dial-up connections are not appropriate.

Avoid having broadband connections shared among several computers, beacuse this might affect that connection speed for each computer. Read item 4 for more details.
23. I have very good computer knowledge. Despite checking all configurations, I still have problems. I believe my Windows Media Player my have problems. Where can I find more information?

24. The audio has a weird rattle noise. What is that?
Your computer may have a problem in your sound card configuratio. To temporarily solve this, reduce the acceleration level for the sound hardware, by following these steps:

1. Click on Windows' START button.

2. Click on Control Panel

3. Inside Control Panel, double-click on Sounds and Audio Devices

4. On the Volume tab, select the item Advanced

5. After the new windows is opened, select the Performance tab

6. Reduce the acceleration level on Hardware Acceleration.

7. Click Ok to close these windows and try to access the WebMeeting again.


Keep in mind that this is a temporary solution. It is recommended that you update your sound card drivers and also install Microsoft DirectX update, which might solve those problems.
